1. Acer Nitro 5: (best gaming laptop under $800)

Acer Nitro 5 Gaming Laptop, 9th Gen Intel Core i5-9300H, NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650, 15.6" Full HD IPS Display

The drill: Primarily designed for gaming, the Acer Nitro 5 is capable of playing games like The Witcher 3, PUBG, and Fortnite. In addition, all the decent hardware combines together to perform miracles, not only for games but other heavy programs too.

Processor:9th Gen Intel Core i5-9300H
RAM:8GB DDR4
GPU:NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650
Storage:512GB SSD
Display:1920 x 1080P, 15.6-inch FHD, IPS panel
Weight:2.65 pounds
Dimensions:14.31 x 10.04 x 0.96 inches
Operating System:Windows 10 Home

The Good

  • 1080P gaming is smooth.
  • The design matches the word gaming.
  • High-quality display.
  • Decent connectivity options.

The Bad

  • Low battery life.

Let’s take a look at my first gaming laptop pick for $800, the Acer Nitro 5 is a games’ reckoning machine with components that includes a graphics card like NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650. When such a GPU sits inside a gaming laptop and especially when it’s budget-friendly, you can name any modern game and the Nitro 5 is able to knock off your favorite ones with ease.

With the coordination of the Intel Core i5-9300H which is from the 9th Gen, the Nitro 5 gets to another level on the gaming side by delivering the 4.5GHz of clocking speed. Whereas, the 512GB SSD is added to this beast that helps in storing most of your dream games and also adds up to the performance of this gaming laptop with the higher data transfer rate.

However, the RAM memory is a bit on the lower side with a capacity of 8GB and it’s highly recommended to spend a little more money on the memory. Sure you can get the performance of some level with such RAM but going for a 16GB model is much better. All things aside, the cooling technology installed inside this beast works like a charm when it comes to intensive gaming.

The screen size is 15.6 inches alongside the IPS panel feature on the display and the resolution mark is touching 1920 x 1080P. Whereas, the higher refresh rate and response time are also worth mentioning here. Sadly, the battery life of 5 hours is one of the downsides of the Nitro 5 because, in this $800 budget range, we have laptops on the list that performs really well on the battery side.

As for the ergonomics, they revolve around the gaming category with some nice curves found on the design alongside the Acer logo on the back of the lid. Whereas, the backlit keyboard that shines with the red lights adds up more glamour to the design of our Acer Nitro 5 gaming laptop.

Moreover, connectivity options like USB 3.1 Type-C, HDMI 2.0, USB 2,0, USB 3.1, and a few others are there to welcome the other devices to its kingdom. All in all, yes there’re a few specific downsides of this latest Nitro 5 model yet the benefits are more than expected for the budget that we have.

2. Dell G15: (best gaming laptop under $800)

Dell G15 15.6 Inch FHD 120Hz LED Gaming Laptop

The drill: My Newest Dell G15 has the GeForce RTX 3050 Ti inside for hardcore gamers alongside a Ryzen 7 processor from AMD to take your gaming experience to a whole new level for $800 budget.

Processor:AMD Ryzen 7 5800H
RAM:8GB DDR4
GPU:NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 Ti
Storage:512GB SSD
Display:1920 x 1080P, 15.6-inch LED, IPS panel
Weight:5.39 pounds
Dimensions:10.4 x 14.1 x 0.98 inches
Operating System:Windows 10 Home

The Good

  • A latest RTX GPU inside.
  • Gaming ergonomics.
  • Good display.
  • Type C port.
  • SSD installed for easy startup.

The Bad

  • Poor battery life.
  • RAM memory needs an upgrade.

I always keep my photography priorities first when hunting down a gaming laptop.

Dell G15 is more surprising for me because it’s one of those few models that can embrace AAA titles like Tomb Raider, The Witcher 3, Red Dead Redemption 2, etc without hesitation.

Plus it’s proved for me to be the finest goals achieving machine on the photo editing side.

That’s possible only if the configurations promise you the performance you’re looking for.

Luckily, the G15 made me pleased, and here’s why:

Nvidia GeForce RTX 3050 Ti with the dedicated 4GB GDDR6 memory sits inside the G15 to have a better hold of the graphics complex stuff.

AMD CPUs are the best especially when the latest one is occupied by your gaming laptop. luckily this one from my collection includes an AMD Ryzen 7 5800H chip for brutal processing power.

Whereas, in turbo boost, it can get up to 4.4GHz of speed and its normal clocking speed is 2.8GHz.

In addition to that, the RAM is 8GB, not an ideal one for gaming, and let’s admit that we are having a budget of only $800. However, the solution is simply upgrading the RAM to a better one after getting your hands on it.

Luckily the storage is pretty decent with a capacity of 512GB and it’s an SSD which is way faster for any game startup. The display type is LED alongside the 120Hz refresh rate and 1920x1080P resolution. Whereas, the 15.6 inches size of the screen is for all kinds of entertainment or other tasks if you’re planning on doing a lot more than just gaming on the Dell G15.

Talking of the design, the Dell G15 is more on the thick side, and why not because after all, it’s a gaming laptop. This comes down to less portability as compared to those normal laptops out there.

As for the ports, the USB 3.2 Type-A, USB Gen 1 Type C, and USB 2.0 Type are here to connect any type of devices like a flash drive or external hard drive to the Dell G15.

Overall, this gaming laptop is a little over $800 but here’s the drill, spending $50 extra was no big deal as long as my gaming and photo editing needs are fulfilled.

3. MSI GF63: (best gaming laptop under $800)

MSI GF63 Gaming Laptop, 15.6'' Full HD Display

The drill: MSI GF63 is one of those few gaming laptops that offers me 16GB RAM and also meets my budget. The GTX 1650 and Core i5-10500H are also the companions of this beast.

Processor:10th Gen Intel Core i5-10500H
RAM:16GB DDR4
GPU:NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650
Storage:512GB SSD
Display:1920 x 1080P, 15.6-inch, FHD
Weight:4.10 pounds
Dimensions:14.13 x 9.99 x 0.85 inches
Operating System:Windows 10 Home

The Good

  • Great performance at 1080P.
  • Ergonomics and high quality build material.
  • Variety of connectivity options.
  • Above ideal memory.

The Bad

  • unimpressive battery life.

MSI GF63 is a cheap gaming laptop for 800 dollars but that doesn’t mean that compromises are made to the design and components.

I did some video editing on it back in the day alongside some demanding gaming. GF63 did what I bought it for and my friend also praised it before that.

Here are some reasons that this gaming laptop will never let you down:

The 10th Gen Intel Core i5-10500H CPU is sitting at its core to knock off some of your favorite titles with the 4.50 GHz of max speed.

To upgrade your gaming level, the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 MSI GF63 is set for graphics-hungry AAA titles like GTA V and Overwatch 2.

Luckily, if not everything, the RAM is on the next level with the 16GB of memory space that takes no time for the heaviest of games to load or lag.

Besides that, the 512 GB SSD also plays its part in the performance and can hold many games inside.

Now the main thing is the screen of this MSI rig that decides the overall experience and it’s standing at 15 inches in size.

Moreover, with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels having an FHD feature for the games that you played on low-quality screens.

Moreover, the exterior is all made of brushed metal following a matt black color alongside the ergonomics that are meant for gaming. Whereas, the keyboard is backlit with red lights and an MSI logo is displayed on the back of the laptop.

The connectivity options are numerous on the MSI GF63 which includes all the latest ports except for the thunderbolt 3.

However, the battery life of this laptop isn’t impressive at all with a poor surviving time of 3 hours. All in all, the MSI GF63 has some downsides but only a few of them in counting but the benefits are countless.

4. ASUS TUF Gaming F17: (best gaming laptop under $800)

ASUS TUF Gaming F17 Gaming Laptop

The drill: This specific model of TUF Gaming F17 is a complete gaming hub with a 17.3-inches of wider display and has cruising fast performance for most modern games.

Processor:Intel Core i5-11400H
RAM:8GB DDR4
GPU:NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 4GB
Storage:512GB SSD
Display:1920 x 1080P, 17.3-inch, FHD
Weight:5.73 pounds
Dimensions:15.71 x 10.59 x 0.92 inches
Operating System:Windows 11 Home

The Good

  • Wider screen without stuttering and tearing.
  • Powerful components on a low budget.
  • Attention-grabbing design.

The Bad

  • Below normal battery life.

The TUF Gaming F17 has one fine gaming machine that can bear any game title with a CPU speed of 4.5GHz with the help of an Intel Core i5-11400H 6-core processor.

On top of that, the GeForce RTX 3050 on a laptop like this grinds up the complex of graphics. For easy startup of the programs, the 512GB SSD is a companion of the Gaming F17. Not only that but it’s able to store most of the games that you were dreaming of playing for so long.

However, I am not in favor of the RAM here because it has only 8GB of room for the heavy titles which let us drag down to low and medium settings. But the dedicated 4GB GDDR6 memory of the graphics card here covers that up by taking most of the burden off from the actual RAM.

Next up is the screen quality and it’s quite promising with the 17.3 inches of wider size alongside all the features that are the necessity of gaming. Also, the connectivity ports that we need to connect any device to the ASUS TUF Gaming F17 are all in there and they’re the latest ones.

As expected from a gaming laptop, the battery life of the F17 is way poor than expected with only one and a half hours of time. That’s because of the wider screen that eats up lots of battery because, in the case of the 15.6 inches model, the TUF Gaming F performs better than this on the battery side.

The overall design is already in from of you with a glossy and ergonomic look that is spiced up with the stylish lid, base, and backlit keyboard. As mentioned earlier, ASUS TUF Gaming F17 is a complete gaming setup with a low budget of $800 but you need to be careful about the battery life.

5. MSI GV15: (best gaming laptop under $800)

MSI GV15 15.6" 144Hz Gaming Laptop: Intel Core i5-11400H GTX 1650 8GB 256GB NVMe

The drill: Another gaming laptop from MSI with a GTX 1650 graphics card, fast CPU speed, and SSD to get rid of the lag that you’re facing on your low-quality laptop.

Processor:11th Gen Intel Core i5-11400H
RAM:8GB DDR4
GPU:NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650
Storage:256GB SSD
Display:1920 x 1080P, 15.6-inch FHD, IPS panel
Weight:4.63 pounds
Dimensions:18.5 x 3.5 x 13 inches
Operating System:Windows 11

The Good

  • Above average battery life.
  • Smooth in 1080P settings.
  • Affordable.
  • Good display for gaming.

The Bad

  • No cons.

MSI is making its way up with another gaming laptop from them named GV15 that can grab full control of AAA titles. The MSI GV15 has almost a similar story to all the best gaming laptops under 800 dollars but one thing that is different is the 11th Gen processor. It’s an Intel i5-11400H 6-Core processor that is clocked with the 4.5GHz speed for the cruelest of games.

Whereas, the 8GB RAM on the GV15 touches the 3200MHz speed and eliminates any mid-range game with ease. Topped up with the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 to stand strong in the way of tasks that are graphics-hungry.

The 256GB of storage is acceptable here as compared to the price tag but what changes everything is the storage type and it’s of course an SSD that takes no time to load any game in the memory.

Luckily the battery life of 9 hours is quite decent for us because of the fewer power-hungry components installed on the MSI GV15. The 15.6-inches screen on this gaming laptop also plays a role in enhancing the battery life alongside all other factors.

Overall, this is the cheapest laptop for $800 which is a step ahead of the laptops that has low-end graphics and can barely handle any game.

6. HP Victus 16: (best gaming laptop under $800)

Gaming Laptop by HP Victus for Laptop Gamer

The drill: The 12th Gen processor and 1TB SSD is the specialty of the HP Victus 16, completed with the GTX 1650 GPU and 16GB RAM to give a kick to some interesting games available to us.

Processor:12th Gen Intel Core i5-12450H
RAM:16GB DDR4
GPU:NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650
Storage:1TB SSD
Display:1920 x 1080P, 15.6-inch FHD, IPS panel
Weight:5.06 pounds
Dimensions:20.5 x 12 x 2.6 inches
Operating System:Windows 11

The Good

  • Long battery backup.
  • No stuttering or lag.
  • Low-end price tag.
  • Different design.

The Bad

  • High response time.

The HP Victus 16 is in no way similar to the gaming laptop that I reviewed on this list. The first thing that makes it different is the 1TB SSD and you have already seen all of the gaming laptops under 800 dollars with low storage capacity.

What makes it even better is the 16GB RAM which is a perfect match for multitasking and some cruelest of games out there. Above everything, the 12th Gen Intel Core i5-12450H CPU can spit out the 3.3GHz speed and can cope with the heaviest processes thrown at it.

Moreover, the display is all good but one thing that is concerning is the 9ms of response time because the gaming laptops that I reviewed before have the best of it.

Yet, the other best features like IPS-panel, 1920x1080P resolution, etc can’t be ignored either. Regardless, as we’re dealing with the 800 dollar gaming laptop, we have to compromise on some of the downsides.

However, the 11 hours of battery backup is good news for gamers out there because you have more possibility of playing games on the go if you’re a student or an office guy.

Overall, the HP Victus 16 is one of the best-looking beasts with enough power for everything including video editing, watching movies, and gaming.

7. Lenovo Legion 5: (best gaming laptop under $800)

Lenovo Legion 5 15.6" FHD 120GHz Gaming Laptop

The drill: The decent Lenovo Legion 5 is a jaw-dropping gaming laptop built with keeping the necessities of a common person in mind who works all day long and needs that gaming kick at the end.

Processor:AMD Ryzen 5-4600H
RAM:8GB DDR4
GPU:NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650
Storage:256GB SSD
Display:1920 x 1080P, 15.6-inch FHD, IPS panel
Weight:9.43 pounds
Dimensions:14.11 x 9.27 x 0.91 inches
Operating System:Windows 10

The Good

  • Good for low-end games.
  • Decent exterior.
  • Affordable.

The Bad

  • 4 hours battery backup.
  • Lacking lots of things compared to others.

The next one may look like a normal laptop but let’s what it’s capable of. The AMD Ryzen 5-4600H achieves the 4.0GHz speed for the toughest processes performed on a laptop.

AAA Games that are heavy for the low-end graphics card are no big deal for the Lenovo Legion 5. This is because it holds on to the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 and almost anything with graphics complexity can stand this beast.

However, I am not in favor of RAM here because it is standing at 8GB and for $800, there are gaming laptops that come with better memory. Yet the 4GB memory of the GPU is a good backup whenever some graphics-intensive games hit this machine.

The storage is always 256GB, not a good one for storing your games but although it’s an SSD so it plays a good role in fast startups for the programs.

Overall, the Lenovo Legion 5 is a good choice as long as you’re doing some extra things on a laptop apart from gaming. However, if you’re specifically into gaming, try our other options which are best at it.

8. Acer Swift X: (best gaming laptop under $800)

The drill: The Acer Swift X is a few bucks above our price point but the RTX 3050 Ti pays off the price for hardcore gaming enthusiasts out there.

Processor:AMD Ryzen 7 5800U
RAM:16GB LPDDR4
GPU:NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 Ti
Storage:512GB SSD
Display:1920 x 1080P, 15.6-inch FHD, sRGB
Weight:3.31 pounds
Dimensions:12.71 x 8.35 x 0.7 inches
Operating System:Windows 10

The Good

  • Good configurations
  • Made for medium-level games
  • long-lasting battery life
  • Rich display

The Bad

  • Design is not ergonomic

All devices on this list are somehow unique on their own and the same goes for the Acer Swift X which is configured purely for an awesome gaming delivery. The AMD Ryzen 7 5800U chip sits inside this beast with the 3 Core Architecture for rich processing speed.

Whereas, it’s not left behind on the GPU side by housing the GeForce RTX 3050 Ti for extra-ordinary graphics handling capability at medium settings. The memory on the GPU is from GDDR6 having only a 4GB capacity but it all gets solved with the actual RAM of the Acer Swift X which is 16GB from the LPDDR4X Gen.

The max storing capacity is 512GB and the type is SSD which adds up the fast data delivery benefits to the RAM for the performance edge.

Furthermore, the design is decent with no such gaming touch to it but yes, the decency of it looks incredible and worth looking at. Another plus point that must be admired is the 12 hours of battery life under normal use which may not be the same when it comes to gaming.

In conclusion, the Acer swift X is not only designed for gaming but can be utilized for other purposes like photo editing, video editing, web, and android development. In short, it’s an all-purpose laptop that can do a lot different than all other gaming laptops mentioned on the list for your budget.

Buyer’s Guide: (Detailed Buying Tips)

Getting to that one best gaming laptop under 800 gets pretty much easier when you have the common know-how of the components used inside a laptop. However, let me make it even easier for you by simply writing some facts about the hardware components that the best gaming laptop under 800 dollars must have.

CPU

A CPU must be up to the mark because the clocking speed is what contributes to your gaming experience. The 12th Gen of Intel Core i5-9300H Processor or similar with a max 4.5GHz speed is highly recommended. That’s because if you’re planning for hardcore gaming, your device must fulfill this criterion or your good experience with games will be left behind.

Now I am not saying that there aren’t any better CPU chips than the 12th Gen Intel Core i5-9300H but you can also choose any of the intel chips which is between 9 – 11 Gen. May you can also opt-in for AMD chip and the AMD Ryzen 7 5800U is best of all in our price point.

GPU

For better graphics handling, I must recommend the GTX 1650 graphics card if you’re dealing with some medium-level gaming settings. Less than that can get your gaming in trouble and you don’t want that. Going higher on a graphics card side is also recommended and the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 Ti is the max you can go within the $800 price point. Whereas, the memory of at least 4GB from the GDDR6 must be the case if you want to keep things smooth.

One way or another, you must stick to the range that I specified and luckily, the laptops on the list in front of you are housing these graphics cards straight away.

RAM

There aren’t actually many suggestions on the RAM side and simply an 8GB or 16GB must be installed on the best gaming laptops under 800 dollars. 16GB RAM is preferable as compared to 8GB but overall, you must go for either of these on your device for better performance.

Please make sure that the RAM is from the latest DDR4 or DDR5 Gen because the older architecture doesn’t fall for our expectations.

Storage

First of all, please don’t even think about the Hard drive on your gaming laptop because it’ll ruin everything for you. Instead, aim for the best storage type which is SSD, with faster components that can deliver data with high RPM.

Yes, you can go for hybrid storage which includes the HDD and SSD for more storage capacity. In this case, you have to remove the DVD ROM from your laptop and install the HDD there after getting your hands on a gaming laptop. Besides that, get a gaming laptop from the list that has a minimum of 512GB SSD inside because after all, you will be needing it to save your favorite games and you can’t compromise the performance either.

Battery life

Without going into the technical stuff, the battery life of a gaming laptop for 800 dollars must be at a minimum of 6 hours. Sure, there are some units on the list that goes beyond this limit while touching the 12 hours mark. Between 6 – 12 hours range is way beneficial for not plugging in the charger more often. This way, you’ll be able to spend more time with your laptop outside your home or in the office.

Display

A display is the part of a laptop where the end result is displayed and it must be hilarious because you don’t need a screen to stutter, tear or have weird quality. That’s why, our aim here is to go for the best gaming laptop under 800 that is holding onto a display with a 1920x1080P resolution, IPS panel, higher refresh rate, low response time, etc.

As for the size of the screen, a 15.6-inch is enough for gaming but if you’re used to wider displays, getting a gaming monitor is the only way you can go for. A second screen alongside your laptop can also benefit you in performing other tasks too if you’re not a gaming geek only.

Note: These are some main factors that you be aware of before buying a gaming laptop for 800. Other factors like keyboard and touch must be considered also and this means that a keyboard must be smooth and Backlit. Whereas, the touchpad must be responsive enough to cope with your games easily. For intensive gameplays, I am recommending to use a gaming mouse because a touchpad of your laptop might not do well here. On the other hand, the ergonomics of a gaming laptop must not matter to you as long as you are looking for $800 gaming laptop because you won’t find any higher level aesthetics on them.
